Yes. Bunions.
Why?
Well, there I was yesterday trying NOT to figure out what my “B” blog post would be (Blogging seemed too obvious) and to keep my pantser reputation intact by waking up today and being hit with a bolt (note the ‘b’ in bolt) of “B” lightning, when the wonderful Sheri de Grom stopped by my blog to state that she would NOT be doing the challenge (but you should read her blog here nonetheless) because she had shoulder surgery, making it naturally difficult to write. Her note reminded me of my bunion surgery that I had 18 months ago, which did not render me incapable of writing, but it did make life tough for a while.
It also reminded me that before I met the fantabulous Kristen Lamb (do go check out her blog here) at the 2012 RWA National Conference in Anaheim, I had no idea that all my blog posts were supposed to be in ONE blog. Well, I hadn’t realised that and so set up an entirely separate WordPress Blog about my bunion surgery called “Not Another Bunion Surgery Blog” which you can read all about by clicking here.
I had no idea at the time I started this blog that I would get SO many followers and people sharing their surgery stories and their bunion tales of woe, survival and triumph. As I mentioned in that blog I really set about writing it because when I was contemplating surgery I went looking for stories of people’s experiences to try and prepare myself. Some of them helped me a lot, so I decided to share my experiences from pre to post surgery to give other people an idea what to expect. I was amazed by pre and post bunion surgery people who logged onto my blog and shared their war stories and asked questions ahead of their own surgeries. One poster even said “Are you a writer? You should be.” And then I sent them to THIS blog. Blog hopping would have been avoided had I just incorporated my bunion surgery experience into this blog but this was pre-Kristen Lamb.
On that note, today’s “B” could also have been for Bronte – as in my 2-year-old Golden Retriever Bronte (who is naturally named after Charlotte (not Emily) Bronte – my favourite author.) Bronte too has her own blog over here at English Golden Retriever Girl. She hasn’t posted in a while though – opposable thumb issues – and her blog was also pre-Kristen Lamb. No idea how to meld all three blogs so they sit on different blog sites.
And so, that is why today’s blog is about bunions. If you want to know how my bunions are today, well you can hop on over to Not Another Bunion Surgery Blog and check them out.
See you tomorrow. And no, I still have no idea what “C” will be. However, fellow writer Christine London has her entire A-Z list all planned out. Colour me jealous. You should check her blog out, here.
Oh your poor feet. I hope you get them sorted. I saw your link on the A to Z challenge.
Thanks. They are SOOO much better now.
OWW-wich!!
Amazing how many fellow suffers you found. Misery does love company. good luck with the challenge from a fellow pantser.
Thank you. Pantsers of the world, unite!
Love your condor. I could never put my feet on display like that, even after a great pedicure. I have a feeling you will be putting a smile on my face for the next 24 days. Thanks for that.
Well, my feet have been on display my whole life. My left looks a whole lot better now.
Hope your blog is up and running soon!
I did three 1hr writing sprints today. Two back to back and the third less than an hour later. Got 3,083 words for one novel and 1,299 for the other. I’m going to try another sprint before bed, but my hands are tired. Numb. I have a back injury from work and a wrist injury from falling on ice. The two of them combined are not conducive for the writing life. As nagging as the pain is, I haven’t had surgery for either of them, so you’re brave to go through that.
Also, a lesson is learned with your bunion blog. You didn’t find something out there and you created your own niche. Good for you!
Wow. I’m impressed! I hope your limbs are feeling a little more limber today!
Meh. I did another sprint towards midnight and added 2,007 to the second number. Over 3K for each story was great, but my feelings–or lack thereof–took over. Limbs are still intact but not cooperating with my brain today. Fuzz is the word. I’m ahead in word count overall but I’d like to get some sprints done tonight. I’m going to try shorter bursts and longer breaks in between, just until my hands stop cramping. Also, the blurry vision isn’t helping. ha! I need to limber my eyeballs, too!
Very interesting. I can see how you worked your way as you wrote and your posting ended up being about so much more than just bunions. It was interesting and kept me reading.
I am like your friend as I have my entire month planned out for what I will write each day as it is about my daughter now in heaven. I have my posts written all the way to R. If you couldn’t tell, I’m a total plotter.

Kelly – Thanks for the shout out. I appreciate the thoughtfulness. Ouch – your feet hurt! I won’t bore you with my feet stories, they are too painful. I’m playing catch up on reading blogs but wanted you to know that I love what you are doing with the A-Z challenge.
Thanks Sheri. Although I STILL have no idea what I’m doing. That’s liberating in itself. Trust your gut. I really hope you’re recuperating well and will back to tapping away on your keys with gusto, soon.
…and that list from a fellow panster. What in the world got into me? Could it be Kristen Lamb? lol. Nah, she admits to being disorganized ADD girl though I question that self evaluation as she is one amazing blogger.
Oh no..and another Bunion blog. The internet is so pack with em. I love that you write this. The true grass roots helpful soul. Bravo!
Hey, my Miss Kiki could use a fellow Golden fan. Bronte–great name. I must pop over to check out her blog too.
Cheers,
Christine London
Well, the great thing is, you don’t HAVE to stick to your list, right? If something else grabs you on a particular letter day no one will hold it against you. At least I won’t.
So true! I will forgive myself if I vary–or even tarry. lol. It is kinda a challenge in and of itself to come up with something semi interesting from a five minute brainstormed list however. Monday will be Gerard. I think that one ought to intrigue more than a few folks. 🙂
